Serials



Web serials are the up and coming siblings to web comics; a serialized piece of fiction, updated chapter by chapter at the author’s whim.  Usually these works are of much higher quality than fanfiction and they’re entirely original pieces instead of derivative.  In short, they’re online novels published directly by the author.  The sites I list here are the works I read regularly and would highly recommend to anyone looking for something to read on the internet, or really just in general.

I love this relatively new (for the generation, anyway) medium because it allows the author to connect directly to their reading audience, it’s free (for the most part) and encourages others to read as much as they can and carries the potential to urge others to start writing something of their own.  One can never go wrong with the likes of that.
