My Imagine Write site, that is. I’ve reached my goal of getting the blog and my own website up by the end of the summer. If needed be, I could have cheated and gone until the end of Septmeber since, technically, that’s the end of summer but I wanted it finished by the end of the “school” summer. Plus, since I made the semi-last minute decision to go to Monster Mania, I wanted the site finished for that, which is next week, so that lit a fire under my butt.
I wanted it more intensive but considering the time constraints and my inability to organize my writing, that didn’t happen. I figured a smaller site that’s nicely combed over will look much better than a larger, sloppy site. So right now Imagine Write isn’t very big but it’s thorough enough for the time being. As my work progresses, and once I get more organized, the site will grow as well. Yay! It’s a nice relief.
I’ve been working on this thing all day because I couldn’t get to it yesterday and wasn’t around last weekend. I’ve sat plastered on my bed, sweating a little because it’s rather warm and haven’t changed out of my pajamas all day. I need a shower. My reward for finishing? Aside from the satisfaction of reaching my goal? I have time to write some fanfiction tonight. Yes! I left off at a really good spot too.
So if you want to take a look, just hit the home link under the IMAGINE WRITE widget section there in the left sidebar. Not to be confused with the blog home link at the top that I can’t figure out how to get rid of. Oi. I’m sacrificing matching the blog to the site for some fanfic writing tonight since it’s not entirely detrimental to the flow of it. So pardon the clash.
Anyway, if you do take a look at it and notice any typos or broken links or anything, just let me know. I went over everything at least three times but it wouldn’t surprise me if I missed anything.
Yay!
Yes, I’m seriously considering revamping the blog, namely purchasing my own domain and site space and getting the much hyped WordPress.org bundle so I can tweak at my leisure. I’ve thought it over and considering it’s recommended that author’s have websites, I figured what better time to get one? I’m actually building it now although I don’t officially have the space yet and won’t get it for at least a month (thanks to birthdays, Mother’s Day, car registration and taxes and a wedding) . This way I’m not wasting months with the account to build it.
I’m not too adept at coding so it’s going to be more graphic-intensive, which I’m working on now. It’ll be fairly simple although I’d like to think aesthetically pleasing. The site as a whole will be home to a bio, access to a slew of my short stories, WIP information, this blog and my web serial, Dawn, plus a few other things. Everything all in one place makes my OCD happy. I plan to have everything transfered by the end of the summer which, as it stands now, is looking very reasonable. The main hurdle is getting this main page graphic made. I can’t tell you the bitch it was distorting this image to make it look like what I wanted it to look like but I did it. I also had a short cut with the coding too. I already have a fan site so I just ganked the code from there, got rid of some unnecessary things, changed the colors and viola! I have my basic skeleton. I love it.
Lately I’ve been doing good with graphics and I’ve been able to make things come out pretty damn close to the images I had in my head (*knock on wood*) so hopefully this will too. I’m not going to give the website name away until I secure it mainly because I fear squatters. It’s already going to be a .net because the .com version isn’t available so that’s as much of a stretch as I’d like to keep it.
Also, thanks to that package, I’ll be able to move my fansite to this space as well because they’ll allow me to host two separate domains. It’ll be nice not having to outsource larger images because I don’t want to use up all of the space on Geocities. And no more hourly transfer limits. Yay! That’s something that’ll happen later on down the line since it’s not high on my priority list but there you have it! I honestly can’t wait!
